Fall weather, a favorite at Hillside

Personally speaking, Autumn is the best season. Let’s make it a worry-free season.

As cooler temperatures approach, it’s time for all of us to start thinking about heating our homes. One of the ways Hillside can help guarantee you comfort is through our automatic delivery program.

With automatic deliveries, you don’t even have to think about the fuel level in your tank, and the delivery service itself is free, every time. (Many companies charge a fee for this service; we don’t.)

How does it work? We use a computer-run formula to assess when you will need your next delivery, taking into account the weather and your personal usage habits.

Another way to eliminate worries this season is to sign up for our monthly payment plan. (See related article below.)

Please call or contact us through our website with any questions or to get started on automatic delivery or a monthly payment plan.

Remember, we’re big enough to serve you, yet small enough to know you. We understand what it’s like to be a customer and how we like to be treated ourselves. We look forward to keeping you warm, comfortable and safe this season — and for many more to come.

Warmly,

Jim Sellers

Manage your winter fuel bills

Why pay for all of your fuel in just four or five months? As a Hillside customer, you don’t have to. Our monthly payment program makes your winter bills much more manageable by allowing you to pay for your fuel over as many as 12 months (depending on when you enroll).

Your fuel bills will be consistent each month—no matter how cold it gets and even if you need more than one delivery in the same month.* If you have a credit balance at the end of the program, we’ll roll that credit into next year’s payment program.

Please call or email us if you would like more information or to enroll in budget billing.

*Re-evaluation will be done as needed based on weather/fuel price.

Ask the expert

Q: How do you go “above and beyond” for customers?

A: From tune-ups to repairs to equipment installations, we take a personal approach in everything we do. And we never forget that our customers’ comfort and safety is our biggest priority. When we visit your home to provide service, the goal for all of our technicians is to be the best person a customer interacts with on that particular day.

Q: What is the importance of an annual heating tune-up?

A: Regular tune-ups can help prevent expensive breakdowns, repairs and safety issues like carbon monoxide leaks. We will clean, lubricate and adjust critical parts of your heating system, restoring it to top efficiency. This can lower your fuel use by as much as 10%. If you haven’t scheduled your heating system tune-up yet, call us today—before the cold weather sets in. Note: In celebration of our 65th anniversary, we are offering a special tune-up price of $165. (offer available until October 31, 2017)

Make a splash with a tankless water heater

The average household in the United States uses about 65 gallons of hot water each day. Are you paying more than you should to keep all that hot water flowing?

If you had a tankless water heater, you could stop worrying. By operating only when hot water is needed (and not using a pilot light), a tankless system can drastically cut your water heating bills. Here are other benefits:

unlimited hot water. Imagine never running out of hot water in the shower—even if the dishwasher and the washing machine are running at the same time!
an easy fit. Tankless systems can be mounted on the wall; the units are about the size of a suitcase, which means we can put them in crawl spaces, attics, closets and other tight areas.
better for the environment. Tankless units generate 50% to 60% lower carbon dioxide emissions compared with electric storage tank systems.

Avoid common furnace problems

Today’s furnaces have a lot of safeguards, but you still need to take some care to avoid safety and performance issues. Here are a few tips for keeping your furnace working safely and efficiently

  1. Schedule annual maintenance. A minimal investment in a tune-up or, even better, a service plan, keeps your equipment operating better for longer and helps prevent many expensive repairs. A tune-up can also solve common problems like odors, insufficient heat, and short-cycling. Contact us about our $165 tune-up special!
  2. Change air filters regularly. Dust and dirt are the natural enemies of your furnace (especially your burner), so it’s best to change or clean your filters regularly—about once a month during the heating season. If you don’t know how to change or clean the filters, ask our technician to show you the next time he visits your home.
  3. Store flammable liquids properly. Fumes from volatile liquids like paints can cause a fire hazard if they’re near the open flame of your burner. Store all volatile liquids safely in an area far away from the furnace.
